Our work has evolved.

For the first few years of The Next Right Thing, we organized our work into a number of individual services. We’ve since simplified that approach because the situations people bring us rarely fit neatly into one category.

We’ve kept our previous service descriptions here for people who worked with us before, were referred to a particular service, or are looking for something they remember seeing on our site. Most of this work is still available. It now generally falls under Bring Us One Thing or Work Through Something Bigger.

Breakthrough in a Blink

Breakthrough in a Blink was one of the original flagship services of The Next Right Thing and one of the clearest examples of how we approached a focused problem through an individualized track. It was built for people who had one area of their life they wanted to get unstuck from without turning it into some huge, open-ended process.

Each track included five 30-minute one-on-one sessions focused on understanding what was actually getting in the way, cutting through some of the noise around it, and helping the person figure out what made sense to do next. People could choose from tracks like Burnout to Boundaries, Decision Detox, Purpose Reboot, Clear the Mental Clutter, or Quiet the Inner Critic, or we could build a custom Breakthrough around something specific they wanted to work through.

For when you’re stretched too thin and need to figure out where your limits actually are, what needs to change, and how to protect your time and energy without feeling guilty about it.

Decision Detox

For when you’ve thought something to death and need help cutting through the noise, figuring out what actually matters, and making a decision you can move forward with.

Purpose Reboot

For when you’ve lost some of your spark or direction and want to reconnect with what matters to you and what you actually want to be moving toward.

Clear the Mental Clutter

For when there is too much happening in your head at once and you need help sorting through it, finding the important pieces, and getting some breathing room.

Quiet the Inner Critic

For when your own thoughts keep second-guessing, criticizing, or undermining you and you want to understand that pattern and change the way you respond to it.

Build Your Breakthrough

For something that didn’t fit one of the existing tracks, we built a custom five-session track around the specific thing you wanted to understand, change, or get unstuck on.

Individuals and Families

A lot of our early work with individuals and families was organized around specific kinds of conversations or life transitions. These services gave people a defined place to start when they were stuck, facing a decision, moving through a change, or simply trying to make sense of something that wasn’t working.

As our work evolved, we found that the amount of support someone needed depended much more on the situation than on the name of the service. The work behind these offerings is still very much part of what we do today.

A focused 30-minute conversation for when something was weighing on you and you needed another set of eyes to help sort through what was actually happening and what made sense to do next.

Where it lives now: This type of work is generally part of Bring Us One Thing.

A 60-minute conversation for individuals or families navigating a change such as a move, career shift, relationship change, unexpected turn, or another transition that had made things feel unsettled or unclear.

Where it lives now: This type of work is generally part of Bring Us One Thing.

A five-session coaching experience for people moving through a significant life change who wanted more time to understand what the transition meant, consider their options, and work through what came next.

Where it lives now: Depending on the situation, this work may fall under Bring Us One Thing or Work Through Something Bigger.

Businesses & Organizations

A lot of our early work with businesses and organizations was organized around specific leadership, team, and organizational needs. These services gave leaders and teams a defined way to step into a problem, look more closely at what was happening, and figure out what needed to change.

As our work evolved, we found that workplace problems rarely stay neatly inside one category. Leadership, communication, team dynamics, culture, structure, and decision-making tend to affect one another. The work behind these services is still very much part of what we do today.

A focused 60-minute conversation for leaders who were trying to make sense of a challenge, look more clearly at how they were leading, or figure out what needed to happen next.

Where it lives now: This type of work is generally part of Bring Us One Thing.

A 90-minute interactive session built around what was happening within a team; communication, conflict, collaboration, trust, roles, or the patterns that were making it harder for people to work well together.

Where it lives now: This work may fall under Bring Us One Thing or Work Through Something Bigger, depending on what is happening within the team and how much work the situation actually needs.

A five-session engagement for leaders and organizations that needed more time to work through larger questions involving culture, direction, decision-making, change, collaboration, or how the organization was actually functioning.

Where it lives now: This type of work is generally part of Work Through Something Bigger.

Communities & Networks

Some of our early work focused on communities, nonprofits, networks, and the people trying to bring different groups together around a shared problem or goal. These services created a defined way to step into questions involving community needs, collaboration, youth, safety, resources, and collective change.

As our work evolved, we found that community-level problems almost always involve more than one person, organization, or system. The work behind these services is still part of what we do today, but we now shape it around the actual situation rather than a predetermined service format.

A focused 60-minute conversation for community leaders or organizations trying to get clearer about what their community needed, where they wanted to go, and how people could begin moving toward that together.

Where it lives now: This type of work is generally part of Bring Us One Thing.

A 90-minute interactive session for communities, nonprofits, or networks trying to work better across different groups, improve communication and resource-sharing, or build stronger collaboration around a common goal.

Where it lives now: Depending on the scope, this work may fall under Bring Us One Thing or Work Through Something Bigger.

A ten-session engagement designed for community leaders, social workers, and organizations working through larger issues involving youth disengagement, community safety, crime, inclusion, and the systems surrounding those problems.

Where it lives now: This type of work is generally part of Work Through Something Bigger.
