People shouldn’t have to diagnose their own problem, figure out what category it belongs in, or know what kind of professional they’re supposed to call before they can ask for help.
If something isn’t working, feels stuck, or has gotten complicated, bring us that. We can start there.
A lot of the things people bring us don’t fit neatly into one box anyway. A family problem can also be a school problem. A work problem can really be a people problem. What looks like a behavior problem might turn out to be something completely different once you look at the whole situation.
➤ A decision you can’t make
➤ You keep going in circles
➤ You aren't where you want to be
➤ The same arguments keep happening
➤ Someone is struggling
➤ Everyone disagrees on the problem or the solution
➤ Behavior, school, or motivation
➤ Mental health or relationships
➤ A lot of adults trying to help, but nothing is getting through
➤ A student isn't getting what they need
➤ A support plan isn't working
➤ The same solution keeps being tried over and over
➤ A team keeps getting stuck in the same place
➤ The gap between leadership and employees has gotten too wide
➤ The same problem keeps showing up in different areas
➤ There are a lot of moving pieces and you can't get them to fit together
➤ You have the idea but not the structure
➤ You need help turning the idea into something real
And sometimes it doesn’t fit neatly into any of these. That’s fine too.
We can start where you are. If you don’t have anything figured out yet, that’s okay. Tell us what’s happening, and we’ll work from there.
Sometimes there’s one thing you want to figure out. A decision, a situation, or a problem. We can stay with that and work through it without turning it into something bigger than it needs to be.
Sometimes there’s a lot more to it. History, patterns, multiple people, different systems, and a lot of moving pieces. When that’s the case, we can stay with it longer and help you work through the whole thing.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is. You could be a college student, a parent, an executive, or just someone trying to figure something out. If there’s something you’re stuck on, you can bring it to us.
Sometimes it’s one conversation. Sometimes we need to look at the history, read through documents, map out the people or systems involved, or keep working the problem over time. We might put together a written report, create a visual map or metaphor that makes something easier to understand, or work with you in real time through coaching or intervention.
We don’t try to make every situation fit the same process. We figure out what the situation actually calls for.
You don’t need to know what kind of help you need before you reach out. We always start with a free conversation, figure out what makes sense together, and go from there.
Before we decide anything, we talk about what’s actually happening.
The only way to know whether it makes sense to work together is to have a conversation first. It’s respectful of both you and us. The conversation is usually about 15 minutes, sometimes a little shorter or longer, and it’s completely free.
From there, we figure out what makes sense.
➤ We may not be the right fit.
If that's the case, we will tell you.
➤ You might need something different.
We may point you toward another person, resource, or kind of support that makes more sense.
➤ Or we decide to keep going.
Then we figure out whether this is one thing to work through or something you want to stay with longer.
You don’t have to decide all of that before the call. That’s what the conversation is for.
Depending on what the situation calls for, that might include:
➤ A conversation focused on one specific issue
➤ Notes from our observations or what stands out to us
➤ A short written report, generally no more than two pages
➤ A simple map, visual, or breakdown of what we’re seeing
➤ Referrals to other people, services, or resources that may be helpful
➤ Articles, books, readings, or other materials we think are worth looking at
➤ Clear thoughts about what may be happening and what makes sense to do next
We’ll talk about what we think the work will involve and agree on the cost before we get started.
Depending on what the situation calls for, that might include:
➤ Ongoing conversations, coaching, or problem-solving
➤ Reviewing larger amounts of background information, documents, records, or correspondence
➤ Looking for patterns across people, events, systems, or time
➤ More detailed written summaries, reports, or recommendations
➤ Maps, timelines, frameworks, or other visuals that help make a complicated situation easier to understand
➤ Research, referrals, readings, or other outside resources that may help
➤ Preparing for important conversations, meetings, decisions, or next steps
➤ Trying something, seeing what happens, and refining the approach as we learn more
We’ll talk with you about the scope of the work as we go. You’re not committing to some giant package upfront, and the work doesn’t need to continue any longer than it remains useful.
What you can expect from us
➤ We’ll show up prepared and take what you bring us seriously and with deep respect for you and the situation.
➤ We’ll ask questions, look closely, and tell you what we actually see.
➤ We won’t try to make your situation fit an explanation that doesn’t actually make sense.
➤ We’ll be very honest when we think something is being missed, avoided, or misunderstood.
➤ We’ll keep working the problem until we have something useful to offer.
➤ If we don’t think we’re the right people to help, we’ll tell you.
What we expect from you
➤ Come to the table willing to participate and look honestly at the situation.
➤ Be as honest and open as you can with us, and with yourself, about what is actually happening.
➤ Be willing to consider things that may be very uncomfortable or different from how you first saw the situation.
➤ Tell us when something doesn’t make sense, doesn’t feel right, or isn’t working.
➤ Be willing to make decisions, have conversations, try things, and follow through when the situation calls for it.
➤ Do the part of the work that only you can do.
We’ll do our part. We need you to do yours.
Tell us what’s going on, and we’ll start with a conversation.
